Tablet owners in the U.S. expected to total 89.5 million in 2014, Apple to own 68% of market
By the end of 2014, there will be 89.5 million tablet owners in the United States according to a new forecast, meaning one in three web-connected Americans will own a tablet. Of those 89.5 million people, 68% will own iPads. Market research firm eMarketer recently published its tablet forecast for the next three years and it determined that tablet growth will slow over the coming years, as will iPad sales. The firm estimates that there will be 33.7 million tablet owners in the U.S. by the end of 2011. Apple?s big Black Friday sale brings little discounts, leak reveals
Details surrounding Apple’s Black Friday sale have reportedly been revealed and as has been the case in the past, the discounts afforded are minimal. 9to5Mac on Wednesday published what appear to be images of a pamphlet outlining all of the deals Apple has in store this coming Friday, November 25th. Sale items this year include the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac, all available for $101 off retail pricing. Apple iOS 5.0.2 update reportedly delayed due to memory leak issues
Apple has reportedly delayed the release of iOS 5.0.2, German-language technology blog Macerkopf.de�said on Monday. Rumors surfaced last week suggesting that Apple was preparing to release the update, which is expected to address poor battery life with iOS 5, out of the door before the end of this week. Macerkopf.de�said iOS 5.0.2 has been delayed to fix “address-based memory leaks,” or bugs that cause apps to consume memory without releasing resources once they are no longer needed. Speaking at an investor meeting recently, Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs confirmed that his company is working with Microsoft in an effort to deploy Windows 8-powered computers that run on Qualcomm’s ARM-based Snapdragon processors. “We’re going to see some interesting stuff going on,” Jacobs said. “Windows 8 on ARM is a big opportunity.” It’s not an easy task: Microsoft’s previous operating systems, and the existing applications, are designed to run on x86 processors.
