Samsung gives up on iPhone 4S patent suit in Germany

Samsung has reportedly dropped a lawsuit being tried by the Mannheim Regional Court in Germany that sought to ban sales of Apple’s iPhone 4S in the region. The South Korea-based vendor had focus its complaint on a patent covering 3G communications and according to patent expert Florian Miller of FOSS Patents, Samsung has determined that Apple’s use of the technology in question is protected by a licensing agreement with Qualcomm. Samsung recently lost a preliminary bid to ban iPhone 4S sales in France, though the case will now move forward as a standard patent trial.�?Apple has continued to flagrantly violate our intellectual property rights and free ride on our technology,? Samsung said in October when it first filed its complaint
